Welcome

 
This is a 16 session course.  The class will focus on speaking, and listening using a variety of exercises and styles.  

You are expected to check this blog for homework information.  If you miss class, it is your responsibility to check the blog and do the work.  This may include videos to watch, songs to listen to, forms to fill out, etc.  I will add links to any technology-related homework.
Also, you can write to me at pamilajohufs@gmail.com if you need to.  Please don't call me except in an emergency.  I hate to use the phone.  Thank you. 

The homework for the first week of class is this:

Required Textbooks:
Top Notch 3, by Joan Saslow and Allen Ascher
It’s a purple book and can be purchased at the campus bookstore

Student Notebook 
You can purchase it at the copy center in the Language Building after classes begin.  It will cost approximately 5000 won.

Books not permitted in class:  Korean – English dictionaries.
I suggest you download an English-English thesaurus.  www.dictionary.com is a good resource.

Please note - schedule is subject to change.

Method of Lecturing
This class is an ACTIVE class.  Participation is necessary.  We will use the text, selected music, poetry, speaking exercises, improvisational games, group and pair work.

At times in class, the teacher may present something that students can research and answer for extra points.

Evaluation Method  - Please note:  I don't give make up exams / presentations

20%                Oral Presentation      
20%                Oral Presentation Project

10%                Midterm Exam

20%                Group Presentation

10%                Participation (includes pop quizzes)

20%                Final Exam

Your score will then be multiplied by .67 to get the score for this section of the class.  It will be added to the attendance and Reading grades.

Attendance percentage is based on departmental guidelines.
